Childcare Law

At Crockett & Co Solicitors in Leeds we specialise in many areas of childcare law and may be able to assist with Legal Aid under some circumstances, for example, orders for a child to see an absent parent, prohibited steps and specific issue orders and live in orders. We also deal with some serious injury cases relating to children.

If you need help opposing the adoption of your child, we can help with the legal aspect of adoption.

We can also help to fight against Placement Orders where a local authority has decided to put your child up for adoption where you believe that there are insufficient grounds for the child to have your parental rights removed.

We will always work for what we believe in the best interests of the child and the wider family, and judge each case on its merits, with Legal Aid assistance for eligible clients, so if you are facing losing your child and need support, Crockett and Co Solicitors can offer a sympathetic ear and an experienced team to fight your case.

Care cases are cases involving the Local Authority/Social Care. Under the Children Act 1989 the Court must always consider what is in the best interests of the child and the welfare of the child is always paramount.

We are able to deal with the full range of matters in the Family Courts and High Court:

  • Care Orders and Supervision Orders including interim Orders and applications made on an urgent basis
  • Emergency Protection Orders
  • Placement Applications

We specialise in cases where there has been alleged non accidental injury to children.

Where possible you should contact us as soon as possible so that we are involved right from the beginning. However we are able to provide advice and support at whatever stage your case is at.

We are able to deal with all aspects of a case, from initial advice through to representation at Court hearings. Our work includes Case Conferences, Advocates Meetings and Reviews.

Legal Aid in care proceedings is usually available free for parents and other relatives, subject to a means assessment. We will always give you a free initial consultation to discuss the case and advise on any potential costs.
